Session is an Android application for secure and private communication. This open source messenger has no central server and stores no personal information.
The main goal of this app is to provide people with a secret and secure way to chat with each other. Instead of using company operated servers, the service relies on users devices to provide connection. In other words, it is a peer to peer platform. Therefore, it is impossible to hack the central hub and intercept a message.
You do not need an email or phone number in order to use the app. Additionally, the utility encrypts all the information you send, including your user name. Moreover, the messenger is open source. This means everyone with the appropriate level of technical skills can review the code and get to know how Session works.
Unfortunately, the utility does not support audio and video calls, at least yet. However, you can attach files like pictures, short videos and voice messages. This media content will be encrypted as well. In case you need a secure way of communication but with more modern features, you may try the famous Telegram.
